Overview
Academix is a smart academic management platform that bridges the gap between students, teachers, and parents. The app simplifies scheduling, progress tracking, and communication, ensuring a holistic learning experience that balances academics and extracurricular activities.
Problem Statement
Students, parents, and teachers struggle to balance academic responsibilities with extracurricular activities due to a lack of a unified platform for scheduling, tracking progress, and fostering effective communication. This results in:
Difficulty in managing both academics and extracurriculars.
Lack of structured feedback on student performance.
Hesitation among students to approach teachers for guidance.
Poor parental visibility into their child’s academic and co-curricular growth.
Research & Discovery

1. User Research To gain insights into user needs, we conducted:
Surveys & Interviews: Gathered data from students, teachers, and parents to identify common pain points.
Kano Model Analysis: Prioritized must-have, performance, and delight features to guide feature development.
Key Findings:
Students need smart scheduling tools to manage academics and extracurriculars efficiently.
Parents seek real-time progress tracking and better communication with teachers.
Teachers require a structured dashboard to monitor student performance.
A gamified approach (streaks, quizzes) could improve student engagement.
Defining the Solution
Based on research, we defined the design brief:
Develop a personalized learning path for students.
Implement a progress tracking system for academic and extracurricular performance.
Enable seamless communication between parents, teachers, and students.
Introduce gamified learning elements to improve motivation.
Provide AI-driven extracurricular recommendations for holistic student development.
Ideation & Wireframing

1. Brainstorming & Concept Development
Identified key features such as Smart Scheduling, Parent-Teacher Chat, Progress Reports, and AI Activity Suggestions.
Mapped user flows to ensure a seamless experience.

2. Wireframing & Prototyping
Developed low-fidelity wireframes to visualize key functionalities.
Created high-fidelity prototypes to refine UI/UX.
Built a structured Information Architecture (IA) to improve navigation.
Conducted usability testing and iterated based on feedback.
Final Design & Features

Smart Scheduling: Automatically organizes academic and co-curricular tasks into a balanced schedule.
Progress Tracker: Provides visual insights into academic performance and extracurricular achievements.
Parent-Teacher Chat: Enables seamless communication between parents and teachers.
Gamified Learning: Streaks and quizzes encourage daily learning habits.
AI-Driven Extracurricular Suggestions: Helps students discover new interests and skills.
Personalized Dashboard: Allows students, teachers, and parents to track relevant metrics.
Outcome & Impact
Improved student productivity by streamlining academic and extracurricular scheduling.
Enhanced parental involvement through real-time updates and reports.
Simplified teacher workflow, allowing them to provide better feedback and lesson planning.
Higher student engagement with gamified elements, fostering motivation and consistency.
Reflection & Learnings
User research was key in shaping feature priorities and ensuring real-world usability.
Iterative prototyping helped refine interactions based on actual user feedback.
Gamification elements significantly increased student participation and motivation.
A multi-user system (students, teachers, parents) required careful design of information hierarchy and access control.
This project reinforced our understanding of designing holistic educational solutions that cater to different stakeholders while ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience.
